DECA membership report
Nov. 15th was the deadline to submit online membership to DECA, Inc. and as of November 21 Oklahoma DECA has 1979 members. Based on the membership reports we have 9 chapters listed as a School Based Enterprise. We have 15 schools listed with 100% membership! I also noticed how many chapters have reached what I like to call the “100” club, which means they have over 100 members. The “100” club chapters are: Ada High School, Broken Arrow High School, Edmond Memorial High School, and Jenks High School.
Special shout out to Ada HS, Durant HS, Midwest City HS, Moore Norman Technology Center, and Westmoore HS for including Alumni and Professional members to their chapter membership. This is one way to increase support and grow your membership numbers. Way to go!

School Store Certification Reminder

For those who plan to get your school–based enterprise (SBE) certified this year, you need to go to www.schoolbasedenterprises.org, download the 07–08 guidelines and start preparing your documentation. Participating in the Certification Program is a great way for SBEs to get recognition for outstanding achievement and to validate with your administration that your school store is an integral part of your Marketing Education curriculum.
SBEs who achieve certification at the bronze or silver level will receive recognition at the state level. All SBEs who achieve at the gold level will be eligible to bring an advisor and 1 – 3 student manager(s) to the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), with approval of the State Advisor. During ICDC, those SBEs who achieve gold level certification and those re–certifying at the gold level, will be recognized on stage and also participate in the new SBE Academy.
Don't forget, SBEs must submit their documentation to DECA Inc. (1908 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191) postmarked no later than January 14, 2008, for verification of the award achievement level. If you have any questions about certification, contact Sissy Long at sjldeca@aol.com.
Announcing New SBE Academy at ICDC for Gold Certified School Stores
Starting this year in Atlanta, Gold Level Certified SBEs who attend ICDC will participate in a School-based Enterprise Academy. As a part of the Academy, students will make presentations on topics relating to school store operation and the top three presenters on each topic will be video taped. These instructions tapes will be added to the SBE web site as a teaching/learning resource for other school stores.
More details regarding the SBE Academy will be forthcoming.
